Gardener 1050 appears as a three-story cubic form wrapped around a courtyard. Because all units directly access the open-air courtyard, interior corridors were eliminated, resulting in circulation being woven into the courtyard space. The exterior incorporates a primary material palette of painted cement board cladding, translucent channel glass panels and painted aluminum window frame projections.
A horizontal cedar rain screen is applied to large sections of the facade, breaking down the overall mass of the building. The project’s west façade features a stair element clad in translucent glass, which becomes a beacon for the building at night.
